Toilet Roll Painting

The boys have been asking to paint... a lot... and we ended up painting twice a day sometimes. After a few sessions of open ended painting, I thought it would be good to introduce something new for them to paint with to keep the interest. I looked into my recycle bin for crafting and I saw many toilet rolls. Yes, I have a bin where I keep things that I think can be put to good use to the children's crafts. This has been extremely useful. I used to see a craft, then collect materials and I never get to that craft. So, these days, I just look in my bin and see what I have. It's so much easier.

What You Need:
Toilet Rolls
Paint
Paper

They shouted "circle" while painting
K, can't bear to let go of his car while painting.
Y tried to use the rolls to stamp each other.
The toilet roll became a tunnel for his car to go through.
And K couldn't resist and invited his car to join in the painting.

  1. I just found you through Teach Preschool. I love this post, and how your son turned his art-making toilet paper roll tool into a tunnel for his car. If you'd like, please consider adding a link on my blog under Creative Experiments: Toilet Paper Roll :) http://tinkerlab.com/2011/01/creative-experiment-1-toilet-paper-roll/

  3. Very cool! Lately I've really been into using paper tubes in projects. We've made a paper tube sculpture, crowns, and most recently a tube collage/relief sculpture!! (we haven't finished the last project.)

My daughter and I look forward to printing with tubes and even different width tubes!

  5. Aren't they simply adorable at this age! Love the concentration on their faces... and of course a toilet role HAS to become a tunnel! A fabulous activity session! Must be hard work crafting with two!!

Thank you so much for linking up at Kids Get Crafty - fabulous to see you there.

  6. Hi Maggy,

Thanks! I love it too, when they look so focused. :) I have to say that it's not easy to craft with two tods. Totally enjoy it on good days but on bad days, I don't have enough hands to catch the flying brushes. :P
